so many people without order of existence
they sit on park benches
at night they huddle behind trash bins
hiding from the violence
all their tenacity has long been devastated
once strong and vibrant
life cruelly beat them down
until only a shell remains

we shake our head as we pass them by

it is a cutthroat world
from the shrine on Wall Street
to the huddled masses in the cities streets
for even the down and out
will resort to bloody violence
over half a bottle of sweet lucy
we ache for what we don't have
until we lose restraint
until we're physically unable
and crawl behind that trash bin

we avoid their eyes when we walk by

You paint an ugly picture with Norman Rockwell attention to detail. I agree.

Sorry about that Lori, it is ugly and going to get uglier. Thank you for your observation.

yep, that about covers it! ...

such is the sad reality of the "Runaway American Dream" ...

it has devolved into a corporate 'mediocracy' ... and is certainly not
the stellar 'democracy' (of, by, and for the 'every-person') of 'Jeffersonian
purity' as initially envisioned by the 'founding fathers' (of 'enlightenment').

Pretty sad situation, alright and we may be on the brink of war to add to it.

Oh, we are on the brink of war, Ida, I have no doubt about it. Good morning and thank you.
