It was the end of winter
where a small part of her sweater
began to fall off her slight shoulders

She stared onto the banks of snow
her backyard, the oasis
The small part of her heart that used
to laugh with that little boy
the brown, curled haired boy
that touched her cheek every morning
kissed her forehead
and never lost her in his eyes
for she was his only sister

Every December
where the lake,
Frozen
hibernating
stationed just east of the skies foggy stare
his small hands began to disappear
and curls begin to drift away
before the water had turned him blue
just like the river of tears streaming down her cheek.

Always
apart of her soul
her heart that never shying  away from brinks of sadness
little brothers hands
December always reaching back.

I enjoyed both the somber and sweetness in the poem's mood here, a bit cryptic for me, but nevertheless I enjoyed

Aww yes, the chill stings long after  winter freezes over.

Your last line is very beautiful, sadly.

This leaves me with such sadness, which is a good thing cause thats what poetry does - makes the reader feel one way or the other. Thank you for sharing.

unto my tainted hear

Sinfully,

Happy it touched you.  At times, life is more wise when sadness and heartache is involved.

Cheers
