The Pen

It's just a pen, so tell me why
It can't write words I want it to?
...Of smiling face, of gleam in eye.
Or even love found ever true.

It's just a pen; it has no mind,
So how can it contradict me—
Paint me like a fool, colorblind
To richness in life I can't see?

It's just a pen I hold in hand,
A tool to pry open my soul;
Though most would never understand
These words aren't something I control.

And in the end, just know it's true,
This pen is but the legacy
I hope never cuts into you
The way it has cut into me.

My muse, sole bearer of this gift
I have to give, so give in kind;
I wish, just once, could help me lift
This pen to better humankind.

It is our own wheels turning that puts that pen to paper....Hold on to your pen now ya hear!!!
You write some honest truths and turn it into poetry and that's not an easy thing to do.

...seriously for me, writing fluff is challenging to say the least.

Ahhh the pen, Michael, is the conduit to our soul and that stubborn Muse that we all have and sometimes with we didn't.

MIchael...I know exactly how you feel. My pin has dried up, but i'm not sure that it is  better to write of heartache and pain or to not write at all.
Take care my friend...Paul

Not something I can do for you, Jer... so far as I know anyway, but I will let the admins know you are requesting it.

Michael,
You express well the drought of the pen. Apparently the drought has ended.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

careful what you ask for Michael.... Ask and you shall receive. You never know when an "updraft" will hit you or how your "blues" will strike someone else. You may have already done more than you know.
