moonlight and shadows
silence and emptiness
alone in the wilderness
with a broken heart

the owl flies away
swaying in the moonlight
an empty tree

abandoned house
only dust and time
in a broken teacup

sky and earth are one
the snowflakes fall

long lazy days
warm summer sun
joys of the wilderness

shaken from the
loneliest of dreams
thunder at midnight

ancient forest
star-field splendor
only the moon and I

In my mirror
by moonlight___
my father
my son

much truth still remains
in a dead chrysanthemum

‘endless’ mountain
   twilight
forest evening calm
the moon lies sleeping
in this lake of dreams

in this empty life
seeking the shelter
of your arms

By  your love
I become fully real___
my spirit limitless

two midnight lovers
somewhere in time
shadow-dancing
by candle light

If time is a river
your love is
my lifeline

Your gentle spirit plays my heart
like the finest Stradivarius
with the velvet fingers of love

most Heavenly torture___
I cannot touch you
with more than words

notes of liquid desire
chords of passion's fire
spirit-mates burning
with the music of love

Zen-like is truly within the words and lines of this very much piece of angst poetry. It causes the heart to ache in sympathy with the sad and lonely words

An amazing example of heartfelt love and longing, Bruce. A keeper for sure.

one has to, I believe, be rather careful about writing Zen poetry
in any form as it can be rather addictive.  I could easily become
'locked into' that attempting to approach the penultimate 'Zen limit' ...
at the expense of all else.

The following is likely as close as I've come to said "Zen limit" :

                      Winter Dawn

                frigid Winter sunrise -
                over pure white snow
                a black raven shadow.
