He asked if it was over
if the pain had ended
that February morning.

Had his mother died in peace
did the pain sear through
the families eyes too long
or was she,
peaceful
softly departed onto the white linen bed

Where she used to sleep
just young enough to
hold her mothers right hand
with her feet wobbling onto the bus steps

Her skin was so ragged
eyelids barely open
and the crease between her lips
began to give way to the ending
of the black shadows dream of
moving past the stroke of midnight.

Her eyes were once
a mirror of the green forest
behind her childhood home
Now,
faded, slightly weary
worn,
to a bridges lost wooden tiles
So she began to breathe
slower,
and slower
until she finally stopped

Weep the halls
the rooms somber tears
the patios front doors
blocked the suns rays in tribute
as she lay there
arms,
side by side
in her white blouse
her skin beginning to turn to dust,
pale
lying motionless
she relieved the bed of its duties

We wept
the houses corridors slightly ajar
from one another
wept until February came around, again.

Owl -

Thankfully, this is just a fictional story. I hope that I won't actually have to live through such a thing.  Thanks for the read.  Hope you're well.

Cheers

Tomer
