That long ago summer the sky beckoned me
pray for me pray for me pray my release
The clouds were a gathering off to the East
the sun kept his station here mocking my grief.

I kept to my shadows clutch deaf to the plea:
"pray for me pray for me" dark mystery
had come for my fathers, my brother, my sis--
I sweltered in whiskey I smudged her lipstick.

I'd never known so much death quickening.
(I'd...never known...so much death...quickening.)

My dreams and my days became twisted in one.
There was no air here and I became numb.
Silence unbearable, guns were relief
sounding their power in my New Orleans.

I sang these dirges to my poisoned womb.
I rocked and I moaned madness inside my room.
Drifting my fingertips circling moons
"Soon you'll be free of me; I...will miss... you."

Whoa! Quite a dirge, Lady Goodman. I can relate, I have been down similar roods. Wishing you good days.

I like your style very much.
It's real never pretentious.

Karen...I use to try and analyze your poems to see if I could grasp the meaning of them, but lately I can't grasp anything. Really still enjoy reading and once in awhile trying to figure your poetry out, but all I get is a headache HA HA...Paul

It's an intro.

But I appreciate the time. Hopefully, when I finish it will all make sense. I hope the same of my life, too.

Mom..
I can feel the pain in every word. I can imagine the thoughts that were running through your head, unknowing when dad would take his last breath. It's unreal. I read, and I could swear you are in the next room.
You are gone, but we are not "free."
We miss you, just as much as you did him.

We miss our dear Karen too! Those were such intensely sad times and she expressed her pain as only she could do ...

No, I understand you will never feel "free" from the pain, but you can always be aware of the comforting thought, that on soul level you are always close, never apart. She is with you, she is within you  ... she is close.

Love and hugs.
