Gypsy Rose (Van Morrison Said)

And what with all these years
slipping under our wheels
wrenches stuck in our gears
keep you and me away from all we want to feel
and long ago we made a deal
and it's almost due
you seem to be almost perfectly you
the one I found just a decade prior
c'mon ignite the fire
let it spread through my limbs
and set my feet backwards to begin
to never ever let you down

And what with all these tears
hushed against the rainfall
so that no one may hear
and he's the architect of the sound of your fall
so long ago you heard me call
for a little relief
for the suspension of your disbelief
of a love spent on the floor
then you walked out that door
to breathe in the open air
to see that I'm somehow still there
never ever gonna let you drown

And I wonder
who would be the sun
to compliment the moon
to light up the room
chasing new beginnings through the days
all the while I've been amazed
by the warming overdose
when I'm with you, my dear gypsy rose

And what with all these years
I've lost count of the words
traded like diamonds clear
of any imperfection, mystery or nagging doubt
tell me all you can't live without
and I'll show you
the colors and tones of a love so true
inspired by the hope you bring
it's hidden deep inside my everything
and everything's for you
let it stick to your heart like glue
and never will it ever let you down

And I wonder
who would be the one
the companion to my soul
to fill the empty hole
chasing new beginnings through the nights
all the while cradling a light
through your high garden rows
I'm lost in you, my sweet gypsy rose

Now did you hear
Van Morrison say
how to disappear
away from the grey
into the mystic
and everything that goes with it
joy, sorrow, ecstasy or pain
take it with a soft dose of rain
visualize you and me in the street
soaked to the bone
but neither one of us are alone
no, not anymore

And I wonder
yes, who would be the sun
to compliment the moon
to light up the room
chasing new beginnings through the days
all the while I've been amazed
by the warming overdose
and who would be the one
the companion to my soul
to fill the empty hole
chasing new beginnings through the nights
all the while cradling a light
through your high garden rose
oh I get lost in you, my sweet gypsy
when I'm with you, my dear gypsy rose
everything's right
everything's right

And I heard Van Morrison say it's all right...

Thanks, Blues. And I do love her; this is a true story.
