The price of loving you is high

I offered both the moon and sky

as I begged for answers

why

did it have to be like this

the barrel of a gun

you kissed

that bullet had my name on it.

You did not squeeze the trigger, no.

But I'm afraid I have to go...

I can't afford your kind of love.

You did not squeeze the trigger, no.

But something in me died.

Sadness so exquisitely portrayed.  My heart goes out to you, if the poem is about you, Karen.

There is a time to love and a time to say goodbye when something inside you dies, but only you (or the subject of the poem) will know when - or even if ever - the time is right - for some it is not ever, especially when the love is too strong.  I have done that saying goodbye many a time, when taking a stand didn't help, and as hard as it has been, especially when I got divorced, I do not regret any of those goodbyes.  I owed it to myself.  There is an extremely high price to pay for the goodbyes, though, and few are born to be alone.  I believe I am, but I don't know of anyone else whom I believe really is.

Yes. Many times the need to force issues upon us leads to dismay and a running away.

Thanks...I guess it is bound to happen in any type of long term relationship--that moment of discovery that we have inner boundaries which we didn't know were deal-breakers.

*sigh*

An odd mix of mourning the loss of innocence and owning a part of ourselves we never knew existed.

This one sure packs a punch, Karen. Sad, but sometimes an end is really a new beginning.
And Diana... I am that other person.

Ida, that puzzled me for a short moment, but then I realised that you mean that you are the other person who is born to be alone.  That saddens me, though I suspect that it doesn't really sadden you, except at nostalgic moments.  However, I suspect that, like me, you would rather be happy alone than be tied to the wrong person and have to drown who you really are. . .

Wow, Karen...  powerful, gut wrenching piece here.  I'm torn between loving it for its expression, and hating it for what I know you had to experience to write something like this.  (Hugs) to you.  Like the title, too.

I love you guys.

Pray for me or send wishes, or what-not. Send me courage to keep that appointment with that therapist.

And then? If I do? PRAY FOR THE THERAPIST.

?

And I do get the most interesting replies--but then, I am biased.

Praying for you, Karen, sending you wishes and what-notting!  You know that I know you can do anything you set your heart to - so to get to that therapist's appointment, all you have to do is to set your heart to doing it - and hey presto! - you will go!  And (hearty, convulsive giggles) I am praying for the therapist too, but just 'cos you asked because I know he/she doesn't need the prayers, lol!

We all love you too, but perhaps WE are biased!  Tell your therapist that - and I am sure he/she will convince you to see WHY we are biased!

And, Ida, thank you, I do believe that too.  Smiles.

Hugs (and gently coaxing you (Karen) out of the door to the therapist)

Karen!  I knew I recognized that beautiful writing, but I didn't recognize your name!  I had to go back to make sure "you" are who I thought you were, lol!

Wonderful and poignant writing as always dear Karen. There is such powerful impact within these lines. Thinking of you and happy I was able to say hello.

Best wishes,
/Kit
