Anchored

This piece of land is part of me, just like a childhood book
Just as a flower-filled meadow or a small clear mountain brook
Just as the star-strewn heavens and a quiet summer pond
And peace within my spirit humming songs of which I’m fond

Just as a salamander foot can stride a rocky wall
Like dancing snowflakes cling to every tree limb as they fall
Just like my eyes that fill with splendors only I can see
The visions of these wondrous gifts will never set me free

Just like the hillside woods that cling to soil of the  earth
My feet are anchored by their roots to things of greatest worth
My heart has never left this place, my wngs have never flown
Beyond these open windows and the place I call my home

Oh, how very, very, very well do I understand this, Liz, and you paint it so exquisitely!  I had to tear myself away from the third read to answer this.  What a gem this is!  Thank you.

You paint a magical picture of just what it is to be anchored to home.  I stand envious.

Lady Santos, sometimes it is magic in itself to recognize the beauty in our boundaries.

This is so lovely in its cadence. You make one want to waltz!

some times we just want to perch on a beautiful tree with roots and let the others fly

I agree with Sunshine.  I am waltzing.
