You are the failing mind which doesn’t understand--
but I knew you nonetheless. Of covers shared in the
dead of night, starlight surfacing the blackness;
in fell the adjustment of the eyes where once in circumstance
I would of kept my eyes closed, if only to stay.
Tell me not of your feelings, because I already know
the thoughts from a woman are fleeting—not unbowed
to the test of their character, but I am punished with
the constant chant of “Nothing is wrong”.

Outweighing my doubts—for I know whilst you
slumber in your unease.
Whispers of an active mind, bludgeoning the dreams--
There is no rest in lies or convinced emotions,
thinking of the years passed and now the future without.

It is just how the poet said
grasping too hard at the grains of sand
holding too tight to hope--
whilst all the while they did fall back into
the mixture, I no longer able to pick the
same extraction of life up, gone.

I do not blame you for this
and sooner do I realize that all action
is the seed from which we grow,
causing inaction and reaction--
dwellings, each step into the next.
I can say truthfully I am not content,
from waking till sleep does take my thoughts
I exist knowing only that we keep ourselves
entertained till death, each experience an extension.

Yes, I agree with your thoughts concerning life is . . .
quote:
experience an extension.

. . . if we could only learn that maximum early in life it would save many tears and hurt feeling. Maybe you have learned it early enough to help you deal with life on a better footing because you look young in your photo.

RedStone, I am fasenated by your turns of phrases here.

"for I know whilst you
slumber in your unease.
Whispers of an active mind, bludgeoning the dreams"

        and

"There is no rest in lies or convinced emotions"

really makes me stop and think "wish I'd written that."
good, good stuff guy! Thanks for sharing.

You analyze your emotions with great ability and skill here, dear Lee.

No, indeed we can't blame others for our psychological sufferings and the best thing we can do is to start anew, allowing ourselves to be unencumbered by past experiences and wishing those who hurt us (whom actually we allowed to hurt us) all the best for their own lives.

Words with great impact.

Agreeing with the above smart ladies.I have a few very old blouses,so worn that they now show little holes from wear and repeated washings. But, I took some colorful embroidery thread and turned them into little splashes of color.I think I did this with my life also, just filled the holes with something bright and prettied them up a bit. Best to you,jo

In depth read here.  Much insight.  Enjoyed the reference to Poe:

And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?

Assuming that was the poet & poem you were talking about

Nicely done.
