Dreams slip into the daylight hours
there to hang suspended like a cold overlay
on a life perceived to be
the beginning and the end.

They neither melt nor fade into
the movement of the times
that seeks to pull the mind away
and sink it into ignorance.

And the cold of dream overlays
draws in the unsuspecting
as they seek to disentangle
every night from every day.

But somewhere in the psyche
lie the tools of disengagement
and those who seek to find
will find and then lose them.

To lose what once was found
a sign and symbol of the times
that keeps that peace unsurpassed
far from a human mind.

I dream of you, I always do,
but I haven’t lost the tools
and that overlay has melted
into calm waters of the soul!

Wow, dear Helen, this is outstandingly beautiful. Will read it certainly more than once ... just had to tell you the power of my first impression and emotion.

Dream on ...

Love,
Margherita

Margherita is right this poem has many layers and says many things and they all work together to be able to compose that stunning last verse.

~*~ What does a clock do when it's hungry? It goes back four seconds. ~*~

Thanks Margherita and Jerry.  Gosh, I'm surprised at the response but delighted of course.  I had a dream, you know, (well, I've had many) and thought it's about time I did something about them - use the tools.     And then someone I haven't seen for ages had a dream about me and promptly came to call.  So, there are some dreams we should take notice of and the trick is to know which ones.

Thanks again.

In case of doubt, dear Helen, always follow your heart. It knows best.

Yes dreams call for action!

Have a beautiful Sunday!

Love,
Margherita

Not sure I'll ever consciously follow my heart again but it does, I know, rule on the unconscious level.

Sunday has been good, thanks, but now the weather has changed and it's time to get warm.  Hope you had a good day.

Hugs
Helen

when daylight hours
slip into dreams ...
I'd love to find
those 'calm waters
of the soul!'

fine 'penning!'

Thanks, Bruce.  Those calm waters are easy to find - just have a firm intent and so it is.  Well, it most times works for me now that I'm ... wiser.
