Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

0 posted 2013-06-06 11:29 AM

the gray morning cools
the heat
of my sunburned skin
as i listen to the robins
sing among the floral chokecherries.
aromatic coffee
laced with cinnamon and nutmeg
slowly wakes my senses.
it's almost enough
to take me to the cusp
of action.
but inaction wins
for just a few more minutes
as i long to stay
home with the robins
and whistle intricate tunes.

slowly the sun brightens
belts of a green
unkempt lawn.
idle thoughts drift
to another scent,
that of freshly mown grass,
and another song,
that of a puttery mower.
i sip my coffee, planning,
anticipating saturday.

again, the birds will sing.
again, i will savor coffee,
laced with cinnamon and nutmeg.
yet, this day,
this saturday,
will be mine, all mine.

Beautiful, my friend.  Dream of mine too!! although, I like my coffee, plain, and black and strong.

Something about a cup of coffee and the solitude while watching life go by is priceless

Although I'm a tea totler Alison, I'm right there with you sipping along to the beautiful sights and sounds. Lovely descriptive morning ... very much enjoyed this.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Everyone dreams of that Saturday that belongs
to them instead of the workplace. You make it seem especially wonderful, Alison.

So beautiful, dear Alison, the intimacy of the first moments in the morning.

Now Saturday has arrived over here ... before going to sleep I thought of the fragrance of a fresh "cornetto" with my coffee in the morning ... and to my delight when I walked into the kitchen this morning there they were, fragrant and inviting! My son had been out and in the midst of the night there are these places where one can find the fresh "cornetti": my son quite simply had received my message. Isn't that great!

Wishing you a wonderful creative happy Saturday!

Love,
Margherita

cornetto = croissant (mine was with cream! )

hi, alison, you just found the secret of trhe birds, i was just asking myself, as i was in a sorrow mood, why they always sing, whatever happens,
thanks you very much for the literate and delicate poem,
