See this gorgeous shot at: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap070527.html

for a ride that spans a magenta universe

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

my attempt

We soar the magenta page
on a roan of magenta rouge
Across the firmament we rage
loping to a lightning powered fugue.

The score brightens well the realm
riding high, riding low
I let go the twinkling helm
through purple shades I gaily go.

Traversing forests of nebulae and stars
asteroids, comets and distant galaxies
Banded with spirals, elipses and bars
that far outreach the depths of seas.

Could there be an overture
that equals the beauty of God's place
Within the span of this universe
if He could be so contained?

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

A very nice response to your own challenge.  I especially like your last stanza.

quote:
Could there be an overture... ?

Nice!  Considering 'string theory' and the idea that all matter is determined by vibrating strings, you know, maybe, there was more to it than just a big bang.  Ha! An Overture!  I like that!

A black stallion paused
in stride crossing Orion;
stars snapshot finish.

Thanks, L!! That's my favorite stanza, too.

And your response, perhaps a Gary Cooper minimalism that says scores in but a few words.

Thanks for rising to the challenge.

Virginia, what I found remarkable was not the horsehead image, but that of a person holding up the image to begin with. So, if you don't mind, I would like to give this a few days to percolate, and possibly come back with an appropriate poem. Thank you for sharing!

Dear Virginia, thank you for another  inspiring image. I love your poem ... VAS writes VAST

Bob too found great words to share with us. I also can detect a person in the nebula like Karilea.

Now letting my own emotion speak:

horsehead nebula:

luring for a ride through space

magenta dreams fly

I see Sunshine, you've never come back to post a poem; I've been gone some time, myself, so I didn't know until now. Hope you are well and it's only because time or enthusiasm had a factor.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

... and while waiting for Sunshine's inspiration, I have this sudden urge for more words:

Angels manifest:

all over the vast cosmos

even on horsebacks

In other words, it's not just a person in my eyes, it's an Angel. (Today's Topics brought me here)

Love,
Margherita

Thanks for another rendering, Margherita!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
