The puddles lay dormant
hungover with the heavens,
rain congregates on stonefaced pavements
becoming mirrors of splashing sparrows

life resonates off grey concrete
the tickling winds, the singing suns
Sunday morning revival

joggers stretch their shadows
leaves roam free as teenage hearts
and October tiptoes by the door
with the grace of a fawn

and in the colored cornucopia
your pretty smile, emerging
in a wet painting, winking at me
in the golden haze, famiiar as forever
your love tattooed in permanence

you know
don't you?
how my heart will never run empty of you.

Such a colorful and image-studded bit of poetry, EmmaRose, and this one line stands out above the rest in my opinion . . .
quote:
leaves roam free as teenage hearts

The rest of the poem was put together with the style and grace I have come to expect from you. Love your new photo.

What a gentle reminder of love ever plentiful, everlasting reflected in the "Colored Cornucopia" and also through your words.  Enjoyed!
