You have to assume the stage has been set, The X's and arrows are drawn in chalk, But a chill runs through you like a great threat. It makes you believe that you are in debt, It's quite enough to make you want to balk, You have to assume the stage has been set. But you're an actor and don't you forget, Ah, every word you can think of is blocked, But a chill runs through you like a great threat. Don't forget you're all alone with no net, Everyone's watching how you talk and walk, You have to assume the stage has been set. Still you stall for time you can't say them yet, The crowd is restless and they start to gawk. But a chill runs through you like a great threat. You only wish you were on a fast jet, They come for you and put you under lock. You're a braver man than I, Jer, even attempting a villanelle. As for the "are we just actors?" part, the answer is yes of course. I guess the real question is who's doing the directing? Nicely done. Michael |

All I can say is now that your writin' bout Van, Vin, Vinanilla, Whatever, Whatever... Hey, Jerry, you willin' to let me have a bite, just a wee little bitty bite of that Breyer's Reese's Peanut Butter Ice Cream yet? Just sayin' Naw, I know you'll never give in on giving up any of your favorite ice-cream, but, getting back on track, you done good with this one. Villanelles are tough cookies, they are, but you kept on subject throughout and brought it all to an intriguing conclusion while keeping to the very, very strict format required for it to be a Vin, Van, Whatever. Enjoyed!  |
