Could this be a modern "Tower of Babel?" Perhaps they're safe because they do not seek to find God, but man's origin. Funny thought, is there a difference in such a goal?

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Men love to explore:

vastness of cosmos beckons

truth unfolds slowly

The instinct to find answers "up in the sky" is surely as old as humans themselves. Those who believe in God will say that we are all nostalgic of God, our Source and we want to feel closer to Him by climbing on mountains or by building always higher skyscrapers and by flying to unknown heights in outer space. The passion scientists put in discovering our origin of course can also be independent of religious beliefs and motivations. It's always a fascinating trip!

I don't like the idea of a vindictive God as He was pictured in the times of Babilon. I'd rather see Him proud of His offspring who want to unveil the great mysteries.

Thank you, dear Virginia, for the inspiration.

Atlantis ready
and fueled for discovery;
Plato euphoric.
