.

I have so little
In common with him
The young man
Once known before

As far as any
Affection
Fond memories
Whatever residue
Having nothing familiar
To being in love with her

I look back on him then
With mild distain
Doubt the fact
He had a brain
Just what was he thinking
If thinking at all

Or as he wanders
In the shadows
Of my here and now
More than lost
Not knowing what to do

Oh I would have
Killed him off long ago
Were he not a better man
Than I

Looking back can bring along such considerations.

Very touchingly expressed.
