early morning hours
oneish if you consult a clock
stars bright
flamboyantly bright
each clamoring for attention
look at me! look at me!
they flicker and sputter
from so very far away

I hear your sweet voice
whispering carnal desires

I stare at heavenly skies
hoping you will magically materialize
floating on a gentle breeze
toward me
smiling that extraordinary smile
the one you keep just for me
I'll be strong
stand my ground
as you float into my arms
for the night
until the dawning

I turn . . .
look toward my window
see your face

Those night hours, ours alone, to fill in
with whatever we may choose, hours away from
the harsh light of reality.
Your thoughts at those wee hours are most enchanting.

Your comments on my poem make me smile, EmmaRose, and yes, as we gaze up at the stars our imagination tends to favor us with goodness and love.

Very tranquil, very calming, and, in my opinion, you are a great poet.  Enjoyed!

Thank you, Bob, but I don't think I am in that upper stratosphere of poets. Still, your words caused my chest to swell a bit.

Ahh, Lori, many thanks for you input here this morning. My state of mind does sometimes get carried away when I think of her.
