I'm a firefly flitting along
thinking grandiose things to myself
all the better to bedazzle you
my little honey bee
my flashing neon tail
hypnotizes and enthralls my honey bee love
Yes, yes, we are of mixed breeds
but I love the honey my honey bee gives
and she loves my flashing, hot to trot tail
when the children came
what a delight to one and all
they had a honey bucket on their tails
and on their breasts a flashing, see all light

Fireflys in the Summer bring out the kid in me, in a lot of us, and what is sweeter than
honey.
Gee, this makes me think of Taj Mahal's Queen Bee, which I just put on as I read your delicious poem

I thank you, Emma, for the cute comments. It's been much too long since I've heard Taj Mahal's Queen Bee. I'm going there now.

Thank you, Joyce, for checking out my little poem. I remember the fireflies from my youth also, but like you, I never notice them anymore. It could be it is because I live in the city instead of a small country town where I was raised.

Enjoyed this walk on the lighter side, Jer.  I used to be mesmerized by fireflies when I was younger... sad how that innocence is lost, isn't it?

Yes, Michael, it is sad that innocence gets pushed and shoved until it is no more. Appreciate your kind words.

(Shruggin' shoulders and shakin' my head over this one) I don't know, I don't know, Jerry, 'bout havin' kids with bucket seats and likin' to flash their headlights. It's confusin', Jerry!  It's just too dang confusin'!

Come on, Bob, get with the insanity of it all. Just think kaleidoscope and breathe deeply. Again . . . Ahhhhhhh . . . You'll be okay . . .

Just too cute! Loved it! I still see fireflies here in Maine in the summer. Enjoyed!

Thanks Kat. Since Joyce and I got to talking about the fireflies I have been keeping an eye out for the cute little beacons of light, but alas and drat! I have n'er seen one firefly. I live in a moderate-sized city, on the small side of that moderate city. Maybe if I keep my vigil I will come across some soon. I appreciate your stopping by.

It is still a little too early and cool (they are still predicting snow!) for the fireflies here. We had such a mild (yet long drawn out) winter, we are expecting an over abundance of bugs this season.

Enjoyed the write Jerry
