The Social Network, BC

Before Computers
way before
when ham operators
ruled the world
so we thought
at twelve and thirteen
and two-way radios
not so normal
modified
with switchable crystals
and antennas
stretched on copper wire
could reach Mars
Motorola would be proud
with our scanners
tuning in on unknown frequencies
where cracks and crackles
turned to shrieks and jitters
when far away planets
somewhere
out there
spoke
and Beatles were on AM
so
we'd skip signals
into space
that they'd hear singing
like drunkards
sleep deprived
Let It Be
"let it pee"
into the wee
hours of morning
aliens
whispering words of wisdom.

Hah! You're right about one thing for sure, there was a time when ham operators ruled. And even with the cell phones truckers still use CB's for communications with other truckers about road conditions, etc. Hah! Again! When I first saw The Beatles with their bang cut hair style i do so think they were aliens whispering all those words of wisdom . . . Heh.Heh

LHBob, What a delightful piece! Took a blast to the past in slow motion.  Your ending was killer! Loved it!

Thanks Jerry and Lori,

Just takin' a little road trip today back in my childhood days.  I do wonder though, hmmm, if we might have been successful skipping our signals into space.

Hey, Jerry, thanks for your fun interjections and, yeah, that's a big 10-4 'Rubber Ducky', we used to talk to truckers too and, yeah, again, the Beatles were young men in their early to mid 20's popularized by their barely escaping certain dismemberment from crazed teenage girls. Today, people can't even begin to imagine horror stories this good.

Ah, Lori, "killer", really? Wow! I always do enjoy your uplifting replies. They're such a pleasure to read. Really, they are! Thank you!

There you go again sneakin' in there, Jimmy...

How to you do that? LOL! Freakin' me out a little  here! Just Kiddin' (lookin' for hidden cameras as I type). Aliens ... Yeah, definitely, I believe. I believe!

Glad to have brought back a few memories for ya and, yeah, I kinda like and liked a few of their songs too (shy smile).
