Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Romance
is not
exclusive to
lovers...
the young...
or even
the young
at heart...

Romance
is not
defined by
flowers...
or diamonds...
or even
sweet
fancy words...

Romance
is not
limited to
dating...
honeymoons...
or even
the
newlyweds...

Romance
is not
confined to
bedrooms...
places...
or even
a day
of the week...

Romance
is not
destined to
wear out...
grow stale...
or even
slowly
fade away...

Romance
is found
shining from
our eyes...
smiles...
and even
from
our face...

Romance
will last
forever
in hearts...
or our minds...
and even
our
very souls...

Romance
is a
blessing to
living...
loving...
and even
our way
of breathing…

Poetry giving us a simple exercise in what romance is, and what it is not. You are so right, Lori, romance . . .

"is not
destined to
wear out...
grow stale...
or even
slowly
fade away..."

No matter the daily grind we find ourselves in, romance is for real and forever. I like this poem. It makes me think, and smile.

I'm so glad you agree Jerry! I hope you are not the only one.  I like to think I'm being realistic here and not just a dreamer.

Lori - if you can dream it then it's real - so they say.  You are right though - if we are blessed with romance then it doesn't fade away.  It just "is".

Ohhhhhhh, Lori the Goose Girl.
It's true.  Friendships are forever.  If it ain't friendship it ain't anything.

First, I love, love the structure of your poem, very eye catching, it appears it took a  lot of discipline to create it and, also, what thoughtful diamonds of wisdom each one of your little stanzas are. Much Enjoyed!

True, but you did a really, really good job of describing it anyways!

O, Lori the Goose Girl ... You can not know my huge smile reading this,  Because that is what I believe too.  It is like friedship, it is like love.  I have a dear married friend friend, and I have come to love her as dearly as I love any of my own, and I love all for whom she cares and loves, though I may only know her family vicariously through her.
Love can not be exclusive.  Lovers can not compete.  Lovers can only love, and I love my dearest friends even though they are married and have children and families.
I really like you, Lori the Goose Girl.
I really, really co ...
huge hugs
Jaime
