   The Dream

Last night I had a dream..
a dream that seems so real
I still can smell the air from it
and just the way it feels

I was walking along a road..
a road I do not know
       The sun was setting quickly
and I knew not where to go

       I felt another presence...
but one could not be seen
I somehow knew that "it" was there
          my senses were so keen

When out of the dark stepped a wolf
a wolf with eyes of blue
       No fear came upon me...
I knew  he was sent by you

       My calmness so unnerved him..
          but suddenly he smiled
And looked me directly in the eye
and said, "sit and rest awhile"

I did just as he asked..
what else was I to do
I knew there was no danger
since, he was sent by you

       He layed upon my lap
          I slowly stroked his head
And when I thought he was fast asleep
          this is what he said

       "Be cautious of The Vampyre..
          be leary of his ways
Do not let him in your heart
once there, it's where he stays"

       I didn't have to answer..
he looked me in the eye
And as he stared back at me
he licked the tear I cried

He told me that he knew...
          he saw inside my soul
And that your scent was in me
a scent he knew from old

I told him I was shameless..
I told of letting you in
I told him of the darkness
          that I treasure now within

I told him of the longing..
I told of how I need
I told him all our secrets
about the way you made me bleed

All the while he sat there quietly..
all the while, he never moved
When he sensed that I was finished
he turned to me, with eyes of blue

"If you love him, love him madly..
give him all, you have to give
If you do this he will bless you
with the life, you long to live"

With that said.. we walked on..
          paw in hand..beneath the moon
       Neither talking, only feeling
it was clear, he loved you too

       At that moment I awakened...
though I really know not why
       But I swear I heard a howling
cutting through the night and sky
Still today, the dream is in me..
still today it feels so real
Still today, my heart beats faster
          wondering what the dream reveals.

Aw Sue, this is so enchanting and so different from any vampire poem/story I have ever read. Your rhyming was fantastic, your story/plot tender and real. This poem is the stuff legend are born from.

Beautifully rendered piece here.  Love him madly, indeed!  There really isn't any other way.

Thank you JerryPat for your more than kind review. "The Dream" has a very special place in my heart for a few reasons. It really was a "dream" poem that I wrote upon waking with this in my head, and the vampyre has taken up permenant residence in my heart along with his blue eyed wolf. I'm so pleased that you also enjoyed it.

Thanks.

Thank you Michael for taking the time to read and respond. You're right, if you're going to love..do it madly!

I believe this most beautiful poem has "opened the door" for V.

Thank you Alison. Both for the warm welcome and the read. Greatly appreciated. We women are a sucker for mad love, huh? Always the romantics.

Think you're ready for The Dream II?

Thanks

LL,my sweet,

You are so very wrong. It was your posting of "V" that "opened the door" for "THE DREAM."

Thank you darlin.

Like a repetitive theme to a story or movie or something, this stanza really sticks out for me and, also, I like the love triangle that's going on here.  Very, very intriguing. Enjoyed!

Angel,L.H Bob, and Sunshine,
Thank you all for such a warm response and welcome to the group. It warms my heart to have others enjoy this piece.

"V"  and "Blue" are two of my all time favorite 'people.'
