I used to write
desperately,
as if it could save my soul,
as if in role of keeping thoughts alive
I served some inner drive
or force of will
beyond cleansing whole of my existence,
there was no conscious goal to it,
no sense of sharing
not even caring if my words ever were read;
one day soon I will be dead,
dead and free,
and I wonder where those thoughts will be,
lost I suppose,
that is just the way the circle goes.

Your thoughts
never lost
guide us
through crossroads
in the flesh.
Besides, you can't die or you'll be
greatly missed!

I wonder if Shakespeare had these same thoughts? I do...not that I am comparing myself to Shakespeare.

Hopefully old thoughts will be replaced by the new if at the end of our time we gain a different perspective. I'm inclined to think we write just for ourselves to gain clarity and make some sense of our world and perhaps ourselves so it's not a wasted endeavour.  But for the majority of us our words will be lost and knowing that we still write so ... who is pulling the strings?

I've enjoyed your offerings for many years now so keep writing, Charly!

all of us ... in this 'Autumn of our lives' can most assuredly relate all-too-well to this superb 'write!'
