    True Heart Compass

A cold November gale
stirs dead leaves to dance
  Winter’s tune
on this grey, deep-sky
day of glowering clouds,
cascading troubles,
and forlorn memories
that skirt the dark horizon
to a vanishing point
of gathering gloom.
This would be a day
to don mortality’s
  heavy cloak,
and dwell upon
ten thousand sorrows,
were it not for
the true compass
of your heart that
beckons my lonely spirit
  ever on
toward the broad-sunny
uplands of my finest dreams,
endless Spring, and your
  enduring love.

I know this feeling very well, Bruce. The beauty of your words can change the mood.
