The morning ablaze with red cardinals
and sun breathes life into the day.
The old burrowing owl should be sleeping
as red-headed woodpeckers play.

The  gray squirrels are chasing each other,
brown-eyed fawns suddenly appear;
Anticipating golden daffodils
yellow blooms they eat every year.

Melting snow is dripping from the rooftops,
embers of winter in the air;
Spring fever is just around the corner
as winter awaits for a spring affair.

Delightful! Witty and happy poetry heralding the coming of a long-awaited spring. Again I say, delightful romp here.

Thank you Jerry, I wrote it while I was waiting for my sister to arrive last week.
Another beautiful day here today...sunny and a little windy. Spring is in the air.

It can't make up it mind here....Snow one day and in the 60's the next. The trees and things are really confused.
Your poem was light and colorful as a new spring dress! Loved it!
