Silence of a winter's eve,
...in glow of Luna's light,
Sapphired stars in heavens shine,
...reflect off meadows white.
Tracks of snow-hare dot land's scape,
...woodpile on the garth,
Crystal flakes etch window's pane;
...embers warm stone hearth.
Bare feet 'cross oak wooden floor,
...pillows filled with down,
Cacooned beneath Grandmother's quilt,
...ensconced in winter's gown.
Dreams of snowmen to be built,
...snow angels on the lawn,
Shadows dance amongst snow's drifts,
...crown jewels of Chione's spawn,
Winter wheat waits for the spring,
...in womb of Kansas plain,
'Neath mantle of a virgin snow,
...pulchritude beyond explain.

Here in south central Kansas two inches is a major snow storm.  We have just set a record for the deepest snow depth ever.  We are fairly modern in our snow removal techniques. No need to buy snow plows when it snows so rarely and so lightly.  We rely on solar power, we let it melt.

Wonderfully constructed poetry, Tim. You put me there.

Such a beautiful winter poem, Tim. Makes me wish for snow. Not likely here in So. Cal.
