.

With such man hands
Beneath young faces

One can tell
That no matter how
These royal girls
Do not have long

Now is their time
For whatever physical
Beauty they’ll ever have
However dressed in
Diamonds later on

Olga despite her name
Brings no fear  Tatiana
Reigning as she does
Is then no more than
A summer’s dream

Marie who wants
So much to be married
Is just looking maiden
As she is

Anastasia is lost
Before she knows

Enough to know
There is an end
However wrong

Such a tragedy that 4 such young lives were lost so early in their worthy lives.  Robert Burns, truly had it right when he referred to “man’s inhumanity to man.”  Yet, as incomprehensible as the atrocities are, that humankind perpetrates against itself, equally inspirational is how much genuinely altruistic love of their fellowman, that so many people (so often unsung – and even unknown) put into action, often losing their lives in the process.  Enjoyed your poem, John.
