DROP BY DROP
18 February 2013

In mists of memory’s hallowed magic
in haven forest’s secret shadows
conferred by tall protective trees
in midday enhancing rainbow colours
in rose-gold sunbeams long and light
caressing house and quivering garden
with sensuous goodbye to day’s delight
in little paws and twitchy noses
in magnificent manes and flowing tails
in soaring eagles cleaving blue
in song expelled from tiny souls
in flight on delicate drumbeat wings
in stories woven in child-heart’s pen
in poetry spun in late night’s ecstasy
in music painted note by moonlit note
in love’s sweet mystic joy and grandeur
in stone-crushed dreams and broken sorrow
in wasted words and cherished troth
in ease of weighted luxury’s repose
in Robinson Crusoe exacting challenge
to smile on Spartan’s stark adversity
in shouting storm and whispering wind
in learning more and professing less
in spirit that blooms and touches and adores
though scarred by onslaughts, still glowing strong,

I travel light the ever-meandering path
vibrant with Rembrandt light and shade
and David flower and Goliath mountain
and rushing rivulet exploding laughter
tumbling over rock and drop,

and all the while in waft and wonder
I glory in the guileless gift
of a profusion of life moments
rich and ripe.

Diana,

This is so beautiful.  I love how you drop from thought to thought.  I am too tired to say much tonight, but I will say that your poem soothed me.  It's beautiful - and so Owly.

Thank you SO much Alison, partly for loving my poem, but mainly for being soothed by it.  That made me very happy, especially under the difficult and trying circumstances you are in.  Now you have a restful sleep.

I love how you said it is so Owly.  Smiles.

You have been blesed by the ability you have, to continue to see, hear and feel the beauty all around. So many have never had that ability or ever tried to rekindle the small joys of childhood that I am sure we all started out with. The ability to wonder and ask why and the competence to see and rejoice. love to you,you are blessed. jo

Thank you Martyjo.  Yes, I am very blessed indeed.  In the midst of trials, I find the blessings bring comfort and in the midst of the blessings, the trials keep my feet on the ground - just as I am quick to complain about poor service, I am equally quick to praise good service.  Somehow, it just seems natural and balanced and an easier and more rewarding way of life - the yin and the yang embracing and enhancing each other.  You are a very kind person with a great depth of soul, Martyjo, and a very treasured friend.

Thinking back here a moment about "The Wizard of Oz" and that very moment when Dorothy and Toto, and us too, the spectator, wake to a new and most adventurous world of Technicolor ... anyways, getting back on track, to me that's how Vibrant you've expressed your 'life moments' here. So Vibrant! So Magical! So Beautiful!  :-) -Bob
