My Prayer to the Spirit of Life

This is my prayer to you:
Thank you for touching her heart,
For all the time she gave in clinic,
For that truly wonderful breakfast with her,
as precious as anything I have.
And I thank you in advance for her care
and for what social time we may still have in these last few months.
I ask That their plans will work out in their new remove
and that they will prosper.

I ask that our friendship will continue to deepen and to grow,
that we might stay in touch
and be able to write or talk over the Internet.
But I also realize that circumstances may sweep my dear friend away
just as I am coming to know her,
and that I may never meet her family,
whom I deeply love as well.
I know that they are moving on now
and that I may never hear from them again,
that they may just vanish.
  It happens.
I know there will never be enough time for doing everything
and that I can only value and treasure what each day brings me,
and what each love gifts me.
Please let me ever know
that someone will always love and care about me,
even if they seem so very far away,
For you know what is best for me.
And I thank you in advance
for all that is good, all that is loving and beautiful
that you may bring to me.
And please, teach me how to say goodbye,
Because I still just don’t know how?
It is for these things I ask, and pray.

Spirit, Spirit, Spirit of the night:
come to me ...

If I could put Time in a bottle,
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is save every day til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you.

Dear Jaime, I feel your pain as I know how much this friendship means. I wrote a poem once in memory of my husband's death;  my best friend facing cancer's grip and for a short time love that had to end. It is for all type of friendships, for the time does sometimes come when they have to leave us for one reason or another. Hold fast to the memories. I hope this helps a bit to show you the way. jo

The Door To Love
The door to love, gone past it's prime
Should be lightly closed.
The memories alone should keep that love alive.
End it, before the embers die.

If you should need to leave, or say goodbye
Do not be distraught.
For I have harvested memories so grand,
That they alone will sustain me,

And leave me with smiles and sparkling eyes.
I would never be alone,
For I have memories to call upon.
A gift to me from you.

P.S.
You are correct the internet can keep your friendship alive.

This is so sad but with the phone and facebook and the internet there is no reason why people can't stay in touch.
Goodbyes are still sad though but it opens the door to new friends and a new chapter in your life.
