.

A small nowhere
Nothing town lost in
Western mountains

Gray wooden walls
Slate gray roofs
A one lane road
Wending round
And through

Beneath Orion’s stars
The night air cooling
Our lives are changing
A lone bird’s call

Who are they now
Moving among the houses
Gathered together
As if to a music
Where there is no sound

Ancient peasants princes
Once beautiful maidens

And here as well
Regardless of incongruity
Those friends I had
And women I loved
Long since forgotten
In years ago

Mingled among those
I never encountered
All trailing white sleeves
Under a summer moon

Provokes thoughts of lonelyness.
But still clean and clear in an odd way.
