when you write novels
you unveil your core values
this is a truism
in my books I open secrets
everyone does
without thinking about it
forbidden thoughts are yours to pen
where my poetry book of love
might address your essence of the light of the purist
on another page
a wayward angel might haunt your soul
there are renegades who tread streets of no hope
we who write
whether poetry or tomes
we put in our grit; maybe our love
an impact to make
a raison d'être
we put forth a force to be reckoned with
everyone's a writer today
everybody is published today
POD
who says there is no God
He gave us POD
we attend book signings
what an absolute waste of time
do we think we're the front runners of avant garde
I sprinkle a bit of French throughout
as you can see
I don't speak the language
like so many
but, if I sprinkle a bit of French
here and there
people might think more highly of me
bull manure
is what it means to me
but still . . .
I sprinkle a bit from time to time . . . hypocritically
can you feel the anxiety of my convictions?
I've removed the mask
which hides the angel on my shoulder
my angel
she transcends time and the cosmos
my angel whispers words and sometimes
shows me the way when darkness falls
she is a poem
she is rhythm
she is ageless
a graceful she
holds my hand
to lead the way
to a new locale
words are easier
she is my Muse
what would I do
sans my angel

As I told you Jerry, I downloaded The love story book and can't wait to start reading. Its about time I read one of your books.
Enjoyed the poem too...yes unmasked is a good title for the poem too.

Good morning, Victoria, hope everything is good in Virginia. Yes, you told me that you purchased "Margaret and David: A Love Story," and I thank you again for doing so, and hope you will like it.

About the poem, we can unmask ourselves when we write poetry or a novel, especially a novel I think, because we can put our anxieties and hangups in the thoughts and fears of a fictional character. Some famous writer once said, "paraphrasing." If you read someones novel you will understand him far greater than if you hadn't read it.
