The Mirror Crack'd

Should I drown myself in the depths of Venetian shadows,
writ monotone on the peeling paint of memory.
The intensity of staring into nothing,
willing ambition, when there is naught,
coiling the tight wound bitter cud,
That fever of normality,
That fear of discovery.
When you remove that pithy sentiment,
That pretended practiced intellect,
the shell remains,
worthless,
fools gold,
not to be trusted, and even less admired.

So when the shadows pass into light,
looking past this finite flesh,
looking for perfections built upon,
decade by decade,
all I see is the shell,
and the mirror, crack'd.

Is this heaven?

shoeless Joe Jackson.

I love this line:

monotone on the peeling paint of memory

and the composite of the whole of them.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

An apparently sad piece, but I like to see new possibilities, due to the "freedom" of a mirrored scenery.

Well done, Mick.
