and then that avalanche of eventualities
cascading down as windows with blinds
hand drawn before my eyes in pencil thin
no painted expressions or sculpted dreams

no strings attached that might be tugged
into moth wing sensation sounds around
to capture a glance dancing too quiet
as do tongueless shoes, without souls

I tap a rhythm on tin women made of paper
just to watch the ripples on their skin
and imagine them as other kinds of eyes
yes, a kinder kind of eyes glassing over

then rolling upward into wanting, eventually
