Sometimes things just bear down on you. I wrote this when I thought the day would never end.

boredom
cancerous in its stealth
sneaks upon you
seizes your thought process
dead center
and there you are
frozen without words to write
without motivation
bored
worse than writer's block
more like
death of all creation
I've heard it said
when all else fails you
turn to porn
even that didn't work
boredom
killer of porn and all living things
let's see now
I have poems to write
a new novel to start
(Really? A novel? I don't think so.)
but nothing seems to be coming together
besides I have occasion
to vent my rage
with much too much violence
within my novels
boredom
it's like I am imprisoned
in a cave where the floor, the walls and ceiling
are all one color
vomit gray
I'm dying
Or maybe I've already died

Well I hope you are feeling a little better since the holidays Jerry. So many people are depressed during the holidays. Sometimes medication can help everything turn from black and white to being in color again, or even a vacation for a week or so. Maybe your next novel can be a romantic one as I noticed you write passion well. xxoo

How well you describe boredom, Jerry.  These days I just lean into whatever I'm feeling at the time because I know it will pass.  I perhaps don't think it's boredom really (not when one has a novel to write) but more like an awareness of how pointless the rush and flurry of life and need to achieve is in the grand scheme of things and then, well, yes, we can just "be" - and that's okay.

Enjoyed your write!

Yeah, I think you're right, Helen, the novel has been on my mind and I was/am having a difficult time thinking it through.

Impressively rendered state of mind, Jerry! Boredom is one of our enemies no doubt and we should never give it a chance to win the battle, also because we know that its attack is temporary.  And as the picture suggests out of boredom humans can really lose their minds and do very harmful things.

Good luck for your novel!

Thank you much, Margherita. You usually have a good handle on most situations, and this one is no difference. As usual, I appreciate your input.

Boredom does create some interesting youtube videos but then again you have to be bored to view them.

How boredom comes over us so vast.

Scary photo....

watched a B movie last night
"Identities"

never saw it before...I've come
to not embrace the chiller-thrillers
[can't say I really ever did]
but this photo
and your words
reminded me of that movie.

Always a good read, my friend.

This is one day to forget, for sure.
Great depiction of what must have been
extremely exhausting and totally frustrating.

Nice writing, my friend.

You are correct on all accounts, JL. That was most definitely one hell of a day. Eh, it passed though and I managed to get a poem out of it . . . Appreciate the fact that you are here . . .
