My favorite saying from a lot that were sent to me today.

'A house becomes a home when you can write "I love you on the furniture".

Once my mom and dad came to visit in (We had four rooms and four kids and a dog at the time) and mom wrote in the dust on the coffee table before they left. "dust me"

My father said, When I apoligized about the finger prints  on the window.

"fingerprints on the window means: children live here"

I will let you guess whom I loved the most.

You had your priorities right, Jo!  Well done but really you did love them equally - just noted the differences.

Naw, I think you were right and loved one a bit more than the other.

Dear Martyjo, how true this is! My son and to a lower degree also my daughter have left their thoughts and signs written all over their wardrobes etc. Sometimes it's fun to reread them. My son's bedroom door speaks volumes, beginning with "Hic sunt leones" and ending with "Leave me alone"!! He is adult now of course, but he doesn't want his door re-painted. He likes it the way it is.

Regarding the behaviour of your parents, I think it is natural for a Mother to notice, even though she knows perfectly well that four children do not leave time to dust. I guess that if she had stayed longer she would have provided herself. Men and fathers are less involved in keeping the house clean, so they react differently. Ok, you see, I am the one who always finds a way to justify people's reactions.

I enjoyed your offering very much!

Love and hugs.
Margherita

Yes you are all correct but I had a special feeling for my Dad as he was the true nurturer. My mother and her siblings had all been orphaned at an early age and Dad took in her two young sisters when he and mom  married. He had been in the Army and served in Panama for four years. He was also a boxer and later a truck driver for the A&P grocery company so was all man. But he was also the one who taught me how to sew on a button, how to iron and how to wash dishes. I have an ode to him some where in the archives. A special man who took care of my mother at home when she was ill in her later years and although not a hugger he was the one who taught us how to live and love by how he lived. jo

This is a heartwarming read.
Your dad has a lovely daughter, and I hope you have shared this sentiment with him.

Excellent write!!
