I live in a picturesque valley of green
Where night renders galaxies clear and serene
Where slow rising moons give an opal white glow
Casting shadowy figures that dance on the snow

I live near the woods where the crackling trees
In the wild winds of winter bend down to their knees
Where darkness is eerie and creaking with fright
With ice-laden branches that snap in the  night

I live where the mornings are silent with snow
That whispers a sparkling tune as it blows
Where sun beams pierce windows and hug sloping hills
And chickadee wings brush the snow from my sills

So do I, Liz - or so I thought, whilst I was reading your poem.  Thank you for a wonderful experience where you so perfectly depict what W B Yeats expressed as "where peace comes dropping slow."  I have only read your poem three times so far, but will come back to it often where I will have saved it in my Pip/Elizabeth Santos folder, not just whenever I feel a need for sharing with you this exquisite gift you offer of tranquility, beauty and soul-food, but whenever I simply want to anyway.  It is like chocolate - sometimes we need it, but other times we just want it anyway.

Owl, you actually brought a tear to my eye as I read your response, not just because of its contents, but because it came from you
Thank you

E'er the day of the vernal crocus,
The chickadee and I
Shall appertain
This pristine dream
As one.

This is such a great visual piece of writing, Elizabeth. Trees bending, limbs snapping, silent snow, et al. You put me there, and for that I am grateful.

a flair of Frost in your frosty flair

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
