I sit here
thinking of love and all it holds
and all it doesn't
took me a long, long time
to fall
I mean really fall
I have memories of those I thought I loved
but never did
still . . .
they are memories
some good, some not so good
I think what I have to do
is whittle memory down
into something
small enough to fit in my pocket

Hows your coffee Jerry?
Remember that song that was written before we were born? Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket and save it for a rainy day. You might end up with a pocket full of starlight one day.

Ahhh . . . The coffee is s-o-o-o good, and yes I remember "Catch a Falling Star," and I don't think it was written before I was born, I know Perry Como made a hit out of it in 1957, the year I enlisted into the Air Force. So I have a few years on you, my dear.

Thank you for your gracious comment and I'm hoping you are right and I wind up with a pocket full of starlight before everything is said and done. Thanks again, Victoria.

I understand your whittling down memories to be more easily handled, and in that I can only disagree, my friend.  I am, at times, worried I will forget; so I try to keep them in buckets, and barrels and boxes so I can take them out on occasion and examine the how's, why's and the crossroads in time.

But I did enjoy your write, JP.

Whadda you know? After all this time we finally find something we disagree on. And I do disagree completely. My memories are getting too crowded.
