Disturbed by the wind that rustles my hair
like life that upsets soul’s goal to the end
there still is a whisper amidst the turmoil
that speaks of a peace before the night falls.

Disturbed by a love that came and then went
like a risen up hope foiled by events
there yet remains the recall of it all
to sustain in the times of despondency.

Disturbed by the rain that cautions my step
like pain that takes too long to be gone
there still is a pause to contemplate
where next on earth I am destined for.

Disturbed, disturbed; why am I disturbed
when the day becomes night and life becomes death
if not for the fact that mind deep in thought
may cause the repeat of … disturbances.

I can stand in the wind, stand in the rain,
remember that love and all of my hopes
but I must not forget to climb the mountain
that leaves level ground behind my back.

I know, I know, but how can I climb
when I plain and simply haven’t learnt how?

You can climb, Helen, because you desire to climb it. You poem is hurtful to read, more so than normal because I understand each and every line, and have lived through them, and yet I have climbed that mountain.

You . . . Can . . . Too . . .

I gotta agree with Jerry.
And I can understand the grief.

I think we all have to be a little disturbed
now and then...  I think that is where the saying: "Good Grief" comes from.
Sounds like an oxymoron, but that's the beauty of life.

Enjoyed the read!!

I guess life never comes with any guarantees. I was reading your poetry books online. Very pretty pictures too and also liked the pictures of you too Helen.

Thanks everyone!

Jerry and JL - I can climb that mountain and "anything you can do, I can do better".

Victoria - oh, yes, my poetry books.  They're just my filing system, you know, lest I forget.  Thank you for reading and glad you liked the pictures.

It's all about where you're looking.  If you're looking up at the mountain, you're at least facing the right direction, and will slowly but sure progress in that direction.  Not that it's always gonna be easy mind you, but it's a far more bumpy path hoping to move forward while still looking behind you.  Those who make a life of wallowing, and believe me I'm one, look up only occasionally and are always stunned by chances to move forward that have passed them by, and then end up wallowing over that.  It's a really obnoxious habit to fall into.  I hope you don't.

Enjoyed the expression of losse here, and can certainly relate to it.

Thanks, Michael.  Oh, I look at the mountain every day but then settle back into "whatever will be, will be".  Perhaps that's a cop-out but it does bring with it a certain amount of peace - in between the turmoil of course.  Life is still interesting surprisingly enough.  Thanks for your input.
