And I play my guitar

Wintry wind and rain –
And I play my guitar.
7ths, minors, and diminished chords,
wintry wind and rain my metronome:
ticks, taps, ticks, on my windowpane –
Arpeggio, with mandolin and flute
pouring down Lara’s Theme;
just in my heart I sing,
and just this song
I play for you…

And I play my guitar.
Cool wintry rainy days
playing this song just for you and me
Then I am reminded of the
Sweetness of your shy smile –
I can only imagine
as you sing along
somewhat out of key…

And I play my guitar.
Tightness holds my chest
And a bit of misty rain seeps-in.
And I remember just where
love songs have gone –
out there in the cold wintry rain,
tapping out a melody
like a metronome
on my windowpane…

And I play my guitar –
and in my heart I sing.
And this song
I play just for you,
Wintry wind and rain…

This is lovely, JL!  Sad but still lovely.  We're in the middle of a heat wave at the moment but I can still, through your words, picture the guitar player.

After reading your poem one more time I understand it more now, which makes it even more beautiful. Just thought I would respond one more time.

Picturesque, the vision painted here.  Melancholy does have that sound of winter rain and tapping on the window.

Wow.  It's been many years since I've picked up a guitar, and I never had the chance to play in a rainstorm, but that sounds like a perfect, almost magical setting.  You've captured the moment well, nicely done.

Damn straight-shootin' verses that need to be put to music, if they haven't already, JL. Impressed at how subtle and slowly you eased into the heartache of the Poem. Excellent.

Oh what a wonderful reading experience, dear JL, while contemporaneously listening to Lara's theme.

You created a magical atmosphere here, sweetly melancholic, but so very intense.

Continue to play your guitar, music is always inspiring.
