Viking Sword (Adrian Peterson)

Silence, instead of trumpet's roar,
As the falcons overhead soar –
As the ice giants lay in wait,
To bar him from his sacred gate.

He is the sword – the slice, the dice.
He is the face of sacrifice.
The slash, the dash, price paid in blood
Through rain, through snow,
Through muck, through mud!

On fields where, once, he lay, felled
He blitzes on, ever compelled
To set the glaring record straight –
Challenge the documents of fate.

The cuts, the twists, the spins and twirls,
As the enemy dives and hurls
At him, their bleak effort's reward
Empty grasps at the Viking's Sword!

True, fame tethered to such a man
Might be attributed fate's plan.
But nine yards short of Destiny,
He stops, to embrace victory...

...And will, through time, along his quest.
Unstoppable, from east to west.
Till, enshrined in that glorious hall,
Sets he, the greatest of them all!
