MAINE SNOW

Autumn slipped quietly into Winter
With cool crisp air, just a hinter
Of the billowing white to come
When frosty clouds become undone

First it's just a few bits of white
Crystallized tears floating ever so light
Then whirling and dancing high in the air
Snowflakes drifting down without a care

As the temperature drops ever so low
The winter chill begins to blow
A wailing wind of frosty breath
Freezing the land in silent death

Flurried flakes are falling fast
So hypnotizing in their task
White whistling thru barren trees
Snow loaded branches bow as they freeze

Then the blustering snow settles down
To find a tranquil white calm all around
The mountain huddles in a blanket of velvet snow
As a crystal moon shines on a sparkling forest below

This was so beautiful. I love the snow especially on Christas Eve and Christmas. Nicely done Kat.I have never been to Maine but I have always wanted to go. I have only been as far north as Conn.

Enjoyed this, my friend. Down here in the Houston area of Texas we so little snow it's all but non-existent - most years having none at all. You described it well.

What a lovely picture you've painted.  I have only seen fresh fallen snow in Maine one time, after all the trips I've made to visit my family there.
It is a beautiful site to behold and you have made it come to life with your poem.

So pretty, and a perfect way to start the New Year.

Hypnotic is the snowfall, and you capture that well here.  Enjoyed.

Goldenrose -Thanks for stopping by to read and comment. Rhyming comes easily to me and it's my favorite style to use the most.

TD - Yes snowfall can be beautifully hypnotic.  Glad you enjoyed.

Richy - Always wonderful hear from you my friend! I'm sure my Maine weather is much different than your CA. weather. I have lived in both states and as much as I hate the cold, I wouldn't give up Maine's winter beauty.
