Mouse in the House

It was early Christmas morning and all through the house not a creature was stirring except for a mouse.  I was asleep in my big fluffy bed, dreaming of my honey and some sweet words she said; that is until I heard noises from the vicinity of my Christmas tree that didn't seem quite right to me.  Who could it be?
Was it Santa rummaging under my tree?  I jumped out of my bed, ran into the living room where I said;  "Come out, come out, whoever you are, you can run and you can hide but you won't get very far."  Then I heard what sounded like a little mouse.  Yes indeed, there was a mouse in the house.  It appeared he had set up residence under my big red couch.  Apparently he didn't fear my cat and on top of his head was a Santa hat.  He said, "I carefully cleaned up every bread crumb you dropped, I even stayed out of your way the few times you swept and mopped, but now my world seems sadly adrift, I checked every package under your tree and found not my gift."  I went straight to the refrigerator and grabbed a large chunk of cheese and with each bite that mouse took he seemed more and more pleased...
