A skinless tide
wrapped around the islands sand
placed between wind and fire

Her skin folded
into another crevasse
and even if the heart
sold its shape
it was the sound of a silent road
that kept them going until she felt
his hand under her skirt
and his eyes seemed to wonder
if she could ever seem to look at him
the way they she used to when they were young

The skinless stranger
her hips dipped
so the front naval of her skin
could feel the in-debt of her
quiet quiver

skinless night
where the scent of a stranger
became the scent of the wind
and when she would crawl back into bed
a long prayer from the inside of the walls
would leave little phrases from past generations
into her ears, down through the long winded hallway
where her parents use to sleep
and, she, like the sides of the road
with their sheepish cracks
mirrored her soft wrinkles
of a young woman's once soft skin.

Your first verse really drew me in.  The scene depicts those first feelings of intimacy before it catches fire and burns ever so hot and heavy.  But the warm embers that are left is what truly brings warmth to our days...  so there you have it,  my interpretation...but there is nothing like your first verse.
