Glancing into those dark
eyes, calmness washed over
me,disarmed, descending deeper
into bliss beyond comprehension.
Standing motionless in the
tar black boat,he
suddenly held out a
brown wethered gloved hand.
Willingly i took it,
stepping into the vessel,
sitting, he stood above
me and pushed off from
the shoreline, soon
we were afloat on
waves of jet ink.
Slowly the rythym built,
my heart in its
tune, thud and clump
of wood, liquid lap
light then loud, silver
the sky coruscated behind
the riverman, momentarily we
slowed, dark towering trees
tangled from the bank
shadowing the argent light,
the riverman looked down,
those eyes, spark dark
burned truth fires into
my soul, forging freedom
from some distant point,
voices hushed as if
carried on the wind,
it was the riverman.
Looking, his lips moved
no murmur, moving through
my mind, whispered words
spoke to me, becoming
louder, until i at
last heard the rivermans
voice ''are you afraid?''
he said to me....

music was my refuge.i could crawl into the spaces between the notes and curl my back to loneliness - Maya Angelou

I feel like I am on the boat with you and the riverman. I like the eeriness of your writing. You do it well.

Loving this series of poems.  Like Victoria, I was moving down the river with you and just a tiny bit afraid!

Merry Christmas, Goldenrose~

You know I think I'm afraid to give an answer to that question, but the asking sent a thrill through me, as said above
I felt "in the boat" as well,

a poem is a sigh
a melody of song
a musical lullaby
