*This is no easy poem to read*

There are those who heard about Columbine in 1999
However none would think this would happen another time

In a small town of Newtown Conneticut
An elmentary school of taken lives, never to forget it

To an elementary school with just young kids
Several still in shock, to ever believe this

Twenty children of ages six and seven
On that day were taken early to heaven

On a cold Deecember Friday, with no goals ever set
A twenty year old male dressed in black and a military vest

For at that time there was no security
For noone would've known that young and weary

For he was quiet, well reserved, no criminal record
Yet now that has shown us, not to believe the unexpected

He entered a school amongst the youngest of faces
For why would he choose there of all of places

As children recall hearing very loud " pops"
At that same moment people were shot

As teachers followed the safety procedures
Huddled in the darkness, hiding there features

One boy who saw a bullet, thankfully saved by an adult
A young woman killed protecting innocent children, that was never there fault

When three adults go into a hallway, but only one comes back

We ask ourselves where is the humanity, that clearly seems lacked

Twenty children of ages six and seven
For on that fateful day, found there way to heaven

A principal who believed in making things better
Who will now never receive those thank you letters

A beautiful girl named Olivia, who was suppose to be an angel in a play

She now remains an angel looking down upon us, because of that fateful day

A young girl named Emily who was an older sister to two younger than her own

Now those girls will never get to see there older sister, safely come home

When all you could think about are those little angels

Parents speechless of what to say to there safe faces at home

Signs to state "Our hearts are broken, but are spirits are strong"

For what one had done to many, in his heart knowing it was wrong

What is happening to the world that we live in today

For one person to take such young lives away

Life is to short to live with regrets

So make the most of what you have, fulfill your dreams that you haven't yet

As we will remember those smiling faces

But not in vain, in such love and laughter, in higher places

No parent should ever have to bury a child

To have a million memories that last a while

Those beautiful faces will be missed of ages six and seven

Yet you will never forget, when all you can think about are those little angels safely in heaven

* In remembrance of all that lost there lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School * You are now our little angels in heaven *

Poems on this subject make me cry...but they must be written, and read as they are the words on signs along the road to healing..

Bless you, and all "Those Little Angels"

I agree, I'm so glad you all liked it, being this wasn't an easy poem to write, having taken me several days, putting in the real events and making sure every detail was precise. I have a little one of my own so I understand what those parents are going through. We were all greatly affected, and it may seem the best way to cope with this, isn't by remembering the deaths, but by remembering those beautiful faces and knowing that there all angels in heaven now.
