He held her hand
like the owls long stare
in the wooded forest

Her shirt seemed naked
vanilla skin tone came under a line
and her skin came undone
with the small eyes that
followed march under the ides of the northern shadow

She cried that night
for legions of eyes never stranded
themselves under a careless slight

The hands of her grip
never seemed as soft as the ones
that touched her when she was once young
vibrant, at ease with a long sea
felt beneath the treason of trees
branches over her brown, soft hair

Never was she too naked for the night to watch her sleep
but for the cotton sheets
the windows quiet grazed lips
she felt a longing
a naked leaf that never felt her skin
roam across the open plain fields.

Dreamy and kind of surreal!  The wide open field sets the stage perfectly!

Oh, so knowing, as brush strokes
upon the canvas of a tender heart,

a poem is a sigh
a melody of song
a musical lullaby
