They ran where the wind
sewed the fields together
under the tomato sun
she wore her red dress like a button sigh
that felt the coastal reef beneath their legs

His fingers began to rub
across her belly
for he knew every time
she would grin with satisfaction

For her heart use to wander along the side of the road
beside her rough legs
she had a smooth layer of the skins touch
that dreamt a side of lazarus
and felt her eyes speak beneath
the running heat

The kiss between the lips
of a maiden dressed in the
clouds of her fathers spirit
with her bones like small woods of fire
up against the scruff of his beard

as the the rural woods followed closely
with their leaves handshaking one another
watching, breathing
as he, like his sacred fathers,
held her slightly, then showed the door
to the tightest grip
of a man with a love so born
he became the shadows soft forest
