Sheepish Souls assemble solemnly beneath the Steeple

to hear Pastor in the Pulpit preaching "plagues upon the People".

Messiah misses morning Mass, measuring the Times

while the Devil dodges details, drafting damnable designs.

Ah, a fine lesson in alliteration for us all.  I'm glad you used quotation marks in your  
quote:

stanza.  I so read that the wrong way the first time through.  Nicely done.
