she lives in a lean-to
surrounded by mighty oaks
always seems to be fogged bound

she opens her blouse
takes my hands
warms them on her skin
giggling and quivering
turns back to chopping the onions
mashes the garlic
dumps the onions and garlic
into the cast iron Dutch oven
sitting atop the wood-fired stove

we hold hands
watch the stew bubble and roil
evening shadows are long
darkness approaches, soon to envelop us
we uncork the wine

Rustic romantic. I can just picture it!

Sounds like a perfect hideaway to me Jerry.
Enjoyed your warm words.

A memory to savor here, and I'm not talking about the stew.  Nicely captured, Jer.

well, I know in this aspect I write from a very cold place, but I recognize and appreciate the 'warmth' in these well crafted words

Thanks for your kind thoughts, Karen, I know it is difficult coming from that very cold place.
