I walked upright on earth's face;
a mindless pawn, didn't know,
my bones moaned wherever I turned,
I strived to change bad into good,
internal war, young man's shame,
my wrongs on the world stage,
is nada; the world's on a moral tilt,
parents cry out for children killed
children weep for parents murdered,
blood in the streets, fear controls
in the dark, from me, something hides,
it spoke loudly, voice with a leer.
You're next in line to be slain,
if you can't find your own unique bane.

So to save my own life I began my search,
I meant to confront it with my altogether,

And as I searched what did I find,
The Immoral Road Of All Mankind.

A very stressful violent world we live in today. Its changed so much and the wars go on and on everywhere. I feel sorry for the children. Nice writing Jerry.

I feel sorry for all of the innocents, but for some reason a certain part of the world seems to thrive of war and bloodshed, Victoria. Thank you for your input.

I thank you, EmmaRose, for reading and commenting on this, as you well said, quite sobering piece of poetry.

You have nailed the mood, which seems to be floating around in the environment, lately.
Reflective angst is sometimes very hard to relate to in words.  You have done a great job with this write, my friend.

Reflective angst? Is that what this write is? I like the title of the penmanship, JL, and thank you for giving it to this poem. I need to dwell further into the phrase.

Too many generations have known nothing but war and violence.  It cuts deeply into the fiber of society and leaves an indelible mark just as generations of fatherless families have become dependant on the welfare system in America.

I wasn't aware that wars caused the welfare problem in America, Lori. You learn something every day.

I didn't mean there was a cause and effect relationship betwen the two.  I meant that having a social situation that is repeated for generations can leave long lasting effects, as in it becomes the only way part of the society knows how to respond because it is all they have ever known. LGR
